I got my Dakota Digital Fp Gauge in the mail last week and got my schrader-to-sending unit hose from Genos over the weekend- the only problem is they reccomend to mount the sending unit away from the motor and the hose is only 18 inches long so that will make things interesting. Also, how do you secure the sending unit- it has no munting bracket or anything that I can even run a screw through on it- any help would be appreciated

TIA-

I'll probably get told that this was wrong, I mounted my fp isolator bracket on top of the shock mount by drilling a hole so the bracket would fit over the shock stud and then put on another nut to hold it there. With that said the isolator is mounted level as per the instructions, and I had plenty of the 18" hose from genos left over.

I made a bracket and attached it using the two bottom (lower) mounting bolts on the Master Brake assy.

I think there is plenty of room for your sending unit - and I used the same hose from Geno's you mentioned.

(this was on my '01)

Mine....

Is mounted to the wiring harness behind the master cylinder with zip ties. I connected the sender to the top of the fuel filter housing with an 18 inch grease gun hose. Real easy, very effective.

I used a Minerallac conduit clamp to hold the unit. I bolted that to a tab on the battery tray. Simple, easy and cheap. I'll post a picture later if anyone is interested.

I also used a conduit clamp to hold the FP sender. I mounted it on the end of a metal reinforcement bar (picked up from the hardware store, holes predrilled).

I put a little bend in the bar to have the sender tuck down into the engine compartment, and bolted it up to the flat corner near the driver's side hood hinge.

Sending units for Westach dual fuel pressure gauge are installed in a manifold that is attached aft of the PDC using a sheet metal bracket. Senders are plumbed to low-pressure fuel system at inlet and outlet of water separator/fuel filter with eighth-inch rubber fuel line.

Well, I got the sending unit mounted- kind of like Gary's, but with a conduit clamp- Now It is muy understanding that one of the connections on the sender goes to a ground and the toher goes to the guage- Is that corect- I dont want to fry the thing-

TIA

Correct

Yes, there is a gauge wire and a ground. The gauge has a ground, power, signal and a light wire. Make very sure that you run the gauge ground out to the same point where the sender is grounded. They cannot be separated, one grounded here and one grounded somewhere else.

Thanks ol ron- I would have grounded them seperately and screwed the whole thing up- Anybody got a good place to tap into the 12v power and a place to tap into the dimmer?

Dave

I cannot recall where I got 12 volts from. I did the illumintion the lazy way. I checked for variable voltages at the dimmer itself, but could not find it, so I just jumpered from the gauge 12 volts to the illumination terminal. Works fine since the gauge is in the unused hole in the dash face, and is far from the driver's eyes. The dash face just pops off and exposes the light switch/dimmer, which is held by three phillips head screws. Sorry I can't recall the 12 volt spot, but it is switched by the ignition.
