Can you please post photos of truck racks on a megacab with ramboxes?

Hi all,

For remote travel in this sunburnt country it's smart to carry a second spare. Puts off the dreaded moment when you have to fish out the tyre levers and bead breaker.

I'm assuming some of you do the same. Where/how to you carry it and anchor it in the bed? Do you have a hoist or just heave it in manually? I'm not keen to replace the tailgate.

The options are pretty obvious of course, but I'm hoping for some experiences like: "I installed it in X location but now realise I can't do Y."

Thanks

In my 94 I mount 1 on each side, upright behind the rear wheel house ,they are 315's and a very snug fit on mounts I fabbed up.On the 05 with 37's they wont fit like that so I fabbed up a nut plate under the rear of the bed(large base so as to not tweak the floor)and run a 1''threaded rod with a welded on handle to clamp it down. There is still enough room for a dirt bike on either side

On my longbeds, I put the second spare at the back, on the side of the bed with a bracket bolted to the bed rail and the floor. The short bed isn't long enough for that. The 33" tire is too big, and weighs 95 lb. on a steel OEM wheel that I bought online from a junkyard (LKQ). So, I lay it in the bed, and hold it down with a chain through the pin of the B&W gooseneck hitch.

I lay it in the bed, no chain or strap.

The 2nd spare for the trailer is on a OE style mount on the rear bumper next to the OE spare.

I also always have a air compressor and a Safety-Seal kit which gets used often enough to warrant, mostly on other peoples tires.
