Any of you ever used this stuff? I bought some today (a little $$) and I'm giving it a try. Label says "Rated Cummins Superior". Guess I'm a sucker for advertising!

I like this stuff better than any other offering. I've got 274,000 miles on my truck and can run 10,000 miles a month sometimes. I idle my truck long periods while I sleep and it idles smoother with Meaner Kleener, and I also get better mileage with Meaner Kleener.

My truck typically runs for an entire week while on a trip.

The bottle says 8oz to 60 gallons of fuel, but I run 8oz to a fill up ... ... ... . usually 30-34 gallons.

I ran a very flat section of Interstate 10 in Florida for 30 miles, pulled over on the side of the road, added the Meaner Kleener and ran another 30 miles at the exact same speed and ended up with exactly the same miles per gallon -- no change. Maybe it's good for keeping the engine clean, but it did not do anything for my fuel mileage. I'm sure there could have been differences in the wind and terrain, but there isn't much terrain change in Florida. It does seem to idle smoother with the Kleener though.

MMead, I burn 2 tanks a day when I'm on the road ... ... ... . that's 800+ miles. Your not likely to see any difference in a 60 mile test. Did you top off your tank after each 30 mile run?

I've tried, PS, Seafoam, Lucas etc etc, I like the Meaner Kleener.

JHardwick,

If you mean that it takes a few tank fulls for the Kleener to do it's thing then that is entirely possible as I never tested it again after the 30 miles. Maybe the improvements in mileage only occur after it has had a chance to do some cleaning in the engine?? I just figured the additive itself would create a more powerful combustion, or something, to provide immediate improvements in milage.

Given the amount of miles you drive, you would certainly be in a better position than I to know what works; I'm just passing along the results of my miniture experiment.

What I did was I got on the interstate, set the cruise, reset the overhead mpg once my speed was steady, and drove 30 miles (at night so there was no slowing down for traffic). Then I pulled over and put in the Kleener (even more than the minimum recommended), got back on the interstate set the cruise, reset the overhead again once my speed was steady, and checked the mileage right at 30 miles.

Same temperature, same humidity, same interstate, same sampling of diesel fuel, virtually identical terrain, same load, no acceleration or deceleration, no A/C, no idle time, no subtle differences in the amount of fuel put in during a "topping off" at the pump.

I know the overhead is not going to be correct about the mileage, but it is consistent. What I mean by that is if the overhead says I got 20 mpg when in reality hand calculation reveals I only got 19, the next time the overhead shows I got 20 mpg the hand calculations will still show 19 mpg.

I know 30 miles is not nearly enough to be scientific, but you would think there would at least be one-tenth of one mpg difference with the additive. It was exactly the same number.

I see what you are saying, but I wouldn't put much creedance in that. I run averages over tanks or series of tanks and consistantly see close to . 3-. 5 m/g increase with the Meaner Kleener.

More important to me than the mileage is the fact that I'm still running the original pump and injectors.

Very true. Saving a pump or an injector would pay for all of your Kleener several times over. And don't get me wrong, inspite of my test results I still put it in from time to time if I see it in a truck stop.

I used to run Howes all the time. Then I had a couple of incidents where my truck would run rough (idle & low RPMs) after running long distances on the highway. Both times, a dose of PS cleared it right up.

I now run a PS & MMO mix. So far, so good.

We're talking about Howe's Meaner Kleener, I've never used the regular Howe's although truckers have it flying off the shelves.

I don't get the smooth idle and mileage with PS that I do Meaner Kleener.

Well, after approx. 110 miles I can say the idle is smoother, can't really report on the mileage yet (don't trust the overhead) but it's reading 18. 5 right now empty. Can't complain, before I used it still average 18. 1 - 18. 4 on paper with 37's, maybe it will get even better?

So was I. It's acutally "Howe's Meaner Power Cleaner".

Yup, thats the stuff, it's darker in color than the regular Howe's and in a smaller bottle.

roperteacher, the only place I've found it is in truck stops ... ..... Flyin J, Pilot, Petro etc
