I don't know about anyone else, but I can't justify buying a brand new truck. Aside from the instant depreciation as soon as it leaves the dealer lot, the mileage on the newer trucks from what I've heard on here is just horrible. My 90 doesn't owe me a thing and I consistently get 22-23 mpg going to and from college, obviously driving like a normal human being. I just don't see a newer vehicle in my future unless I hit another moose, which brings up another point: These older trucks are honest to god freight trains. Last march I hit a moose at ~ 55mph. I'm driving back to school in Vt, around a slight corner to get on to rt 107 on the hammer and there it is. Put the brakes on and right before impact she tries to back up, slips, and drops her shoulder into the center of my bumper, her hips hit the driver side of my bumper and she disappears from sight. I pull over immediately, get out, and there's nothing behind me but skid marks and blood. I look over the guard rail, nothing... I'm starting to get a little worried, because If this thing is still alive it's probably not in the best of moods. Then I walk back to my truck and look under the dana 60 and there she is. Just a hunka moose. I go to the front of the truck expecting total destruction and to my disbelief only a bent bumper and a kinked fender. All lights in tact, grille's good, hood perfect. I get in the truck and drive down the road to call the cops, they come and the first words out of the statey's mouth is "Holy ****!". He put the weight between 800 and 1000lbs. I actually drove that truck for the rest of the school year until rust got the best of her. It's just another reason why I will never drive anything but a truck. If I had a car I know I wouldn't be here to write this.
