The Four Wheelers, Top Truck Challenge 2004 this year was home to Jason Johnson and his Double trouble custom Chevrolet suburban/Cummins equipped challenger. Jason's rig was the topic in another post were everyone was talking about his 1,022 rear wheel HP and his frame twisting 3,440+ ft/lbs of torque. The rig is powered by a 24V Cummins twin turbo diesel engine that caught everyones eye when the contestants trucks were reviewed in last months addition. This is a staggering number in anyones part of the country, over one thousand rear wheel horsepower! Well it's no good if it can not get to the ground, such was the case for Jason as he competed in the Top Truck Challenge. Two broken front drive shafts, one front axle kept Jason's Double Trouble from scoring very high in the competition. He had troubles from the get go and it only got worse, leaving him with a 9th place finish in the 10 truck field.

Is this the same one that makes 150 lbs of boost but they only run it up to 50 because its all they need? It sounds like a load of BS to me. The HP/TQ #s dont really add up together. 1000 hp should be just over 2000lbs of TQ.

That is the same guy

The winner of the contest was Brads Blue beast who ran a V-8 powered Jeep. He pretty much dominated most of the classes. The Cummins powered Chevy was never a factor, he did not finish most of the events and the troubles of his week drive train overshadowed the Cummins HP. I find the extremely high rear wheel HP figures a bit much, but at least he had enough since to pick Cummins for the power, that by the way was the only thing that did not give him any troubles.
