OK... give me your hp guess and really make me feel bad. Here is the combination that you have to work with. .

97 5 speed 215 pump'd truck with the following additions.

#10 plate(45k forward)

3k GSK

110 hp EDM injectors

16* timing

HX35/HT3B twins

Let me see the numbers...

Rick

I think if you slid your plate back about . 010, you'd make mid 400's as is. With some head porting and a #0, I'd guess in the 500's somewhere.

Are you sitting down! The dyno showed that I only make 301/615. . Boost went to 50lbs and the pryo went crazy! My son said that it went up to a blazing 650* and then stopped...

That was a bad waste of $70 :{ :{ :{

Rick

650*F EGT? Is that measured after both the turbos? I need to check that new set up of yours out, Rick, next time I get a chance to get up there... . :)

Those dyno numbers are interesting, maybe you need more fuel, I was thinking you should be at least running 65-75psi of boost with your new spinners.

What are those "110" injectors equivalent to? My EDMs are supposedly equivalent to flow similar to what a 370 flows but the tips have been machined to better match our piston bowl design rather than the "Marine" based piston bowl design.

Joe

I'm guessing maybe 215HP and 550Lbs. Its an old truck with a tired 12valve motor. What were you expecting?? 675HP/1350Lbs :-laf :-laf :-laf

You know with those impressive numbers,( 301/615) I bet my little 24 valve would take you at Famoso!! :-laf :-laf :-laf

well acording to the guys at the dyno shop. my truck is making 250hp to the ground but is making 390 to the FW... . so that means my little 180 pump with stock injectors is making more power then ricks twin turbod big injector truck. at the fly wheel of corse.

they said having 35"tires droped me 50 hp. amd a 30% loss to the drivetrain

also peak HP and Torque were at 2200rpm... .

they also dynoed a 96 truck with a fueling plate / air filter exhuast. at 150hp and 300ft/lbs

i think something fishy was going on

Rharvey,

Something has got to be out of whack  . I made 475 hp with similar parts in a 180 pump and one charger gated @44 psi ? Maybe the afc is not seeing boost? I think you should have seen a lot more than 650 degrees on the rollers. have you checked fuel your fuel pressure? just some ideas, you should be higher than that for sure.

Dave.

Rharvey.

If you are able to get 50psi overall you are well over 301. My setup is similar to yours and with 85hp injectors, plate and afc in the middle I am just making 50psi. My pyro is going to about 1200 and hp is a bit over 400. Torque is way over 600. If you are throwing enough fuel to hit 50, you should be well over 375hp. 65mph cruise should be around 600deg. If you had a bad dyno run on a light rollered inertia dyno I could see a low number, but the boost would probably be lower.

Something is definately not right with the dyno operator, Rick. Lat year @ R&E Racing, the shop that hosted the 1st HDDR dyno event, I made 320hp and 750ft. lbs. with a #10 full forward, stock HX-35 and stock 215 injectors. And I thought that guy didn't know what he was doing since all the obviously higher powered auto transmission trucks were making a whole lot less than me. I believe you should have seen at least somewhere around 500hp and somewhere between 900-1000ft. lbs.

Joe

One would have thought that... The operator kept blaming the injectors that they were flowing too much fuel. . then they changed their minds and said that I was not fueled enough because of the exhaust temps. .

Needless to say. . I was not a happy camper. . Even Justin ran higher torque numbers than I did with about 45 hp less than mine. .

I should have left the money at the trailer. . #@$%! #@$%! #@$%! #@$%! #@$%! #@$%!

I may find the time a take a little drive up to Imlers...

Rick

Yeah, you got to find out a little history or talk to the dyno operator a bit to find out what they know and don't know. :-laf

I would let this last run go and not worry about it and find yourself someone who does diesel dyno testing regularly.

Hey, you never answered my question from above about the EGTs..... where is your probe located cuz I was interested to find out more about that cold 650*F EGT temp you mentioned??

Joe

Joe,

The pyro is pre-turbos... There wasnt enough load put on the dyno to make my truck work. The little load that was put on it. . when the twins spool'd up and made the 50lbs of boost there were no egt's.

Somebody needs to school them on how to run their dyno for our trucks. .

Rick

hey Rick, now do you beleave me, lol. Well you said all you wanted to do is tow your trailer and you didn't care about HP. Well here you go. If you don't have the air there and if you don't have enough fuel then this is what happens. Thats why it is nice to have an adjuster on the pump to turn the fuel up for the Dyno and pull it back down when you tow. A small set of twins don't perform well on dynos, you get too much exhaust restiction. HP and streetablity are two different things sometimes, especially on a standard shift truck. Boost is not a good messure of power either. It made 98 psi boost and could only get 574 HP and then next year i made 82 psi boost and made 695 HP.

I know what it is, . . pull that plate out and you will see at least 390-425 hp with your setup. I think you have it way too far back. Don't watch the pyro don't watch the boost. I would drive over to your buddy's place , Roger Vogt's, and put it on the dyno, then pull the plate and dyno it again.

Inexperienced dyno operator could have had a lot to do with it. Mine was not only the truck that showed way low. I think I will make a trip to Imlers instead... there is toooooooooooooooo much banks stuff at Rogers place...

Need a shop that know how to dyno them...

I dont have a problem towing with the way the plate is setup or the amount of fuel that I am running. I want to know what I am using while towing. Since we got 3 pulls I wanted to see what the numbers were at 1800 rpms and also at 2200 rpms and then the full run. What I got was the deer in the head light look!~

They even had problems getting things setup for Justins truck...

Also yes you are correct about not needing to know hp of the truck. . I wanted the torque numbers so I could get my personal plates. . :D :D :D

What your not happy with Plates that say 615 ft/lbs?????? run the truck in first gear and see how much torque it makes to the wheels :D
