can someone please clarifi the horsepower rating for the 01' auto, I thought it was for a non-HO it was or is 215 stock,I was looking at my sticker from when I bought the trk new and it says 235 does that sound right ? Or is this a rare case.

Thanks in Advance. DH

My '01. 5 WAS 235HP... . The best $$$ spent was my DTT trans, DDII injectors, HO turbo, edge box and a 4" Magnaflow exaust!

NOW THATS HORSE POWER BABY!!!!!

Motorhead - how much do you figure you spent on the upgrades - sounds like a nice package you put together. How much horsepower are you making with that set-up?

Yeah Motorhead, I have a question too... what do you mean by "HO Turbo"? I thought the SO and HO 01. 5's both had an HY35. Did you have it "Piersified" or something?

mmclaughlin, as far as the rest of his mods, I am planning on doing a very similar configuration. You can figure roughly $4000 for the DTT transmission (if you want the full blown package), $700 for the injectors, $600 for the Edge box, and $400 for the exhaust. As you can see, the transmission is the biggest expense which is why I waited for mine to blow up before adding any power enhancements. Once my truck goes to DTT later this month, I'll be putting in EDM 2. 5's and an Edge box, and since I have a '99 with HX35 instead of HY35 (12cm vs 9cm), the turbo should be able to handle that OK until I can afford to upgrade that as well. I think this will be the perfect configuration for anyone who wants more power but still needs to keep it reasonable for towing and reliability.

Darkhorse is correct. The HY only came in autos until '03. '03 and later trucks only have HY's regardless of transmission, albeit a slightly different HY than on the earlier autos.

OK, that's good to know, but my previous question still stands to motorhead since he does have an auto, and hence the HY. I'm just trying to understand what he means by "HO Turbo"... perhaps he put a turbo from a HO *manual* (HX) in there?

DH,

You are going to have to do the transmission before any mods. I did the toys first and had to pull them to get the slipage to stop. I limp now but I can still run. Better to spend on a VB now than have to build the trans from the burnt hull that will be in the rig when you apply those new found mods to the road. Smoked clutch packs are easy to do to the 47 if pressure is low. Have fun and enjoy the ride. Mike

Thanks every one for the HP ratings, MIke, the only power i addisionaly added was the "micro tuner from Superchips, and it claims 50hp " But I did a lot of home work on more power and didn't do any thing till 50,000 miles. Its been said that 50hp max for stock transmission, even though I don't do alot of pulling with mine "YET" , you can tell it is not stock. But thanks for the advice to wait, AND I AM WAITING AND SAVING FOR THE TRANS UPGRADE TO HAPPEN FIRST" then i'll let the smoke roll. 10/4

DH

If ya had a 6spd, you would only need 900 to take care of that transmission problem for the upgrades! (If you done the work yourself). I guess you auto guys will never learn. :D :) Just kidding, each to his own.
