I have had an oil leak from my HPCR pump since I reinstalled it on my rebuilt engine about 20,000 miles ago. I tracked the leak down to the pump and thought I had damaged the o-ring seal when I installed the pump. When I removed the pump, the o-ring was in good shape so I kept looking. The pump has a weep hole to prevent leaking diesel into the engine oil if the internal seal leaks. Well, the weep hole will leak engine oil if the pump shaft oil seal is worn. While looking at the seal I moved it slightly and engine oil ran out of the weep hole. I decided to change the pump because it has about 250000 miles on it. The leak was about half to one quart in 5000 miles, my oil change interval. Information to file away in your brain.
