Im in the process of shopping for a VP as mine is on its way out and i am looking for info from those who have the HRVP. Im debating if i should get the regular pump or do i pay the extra bills and get the HRVP. Its a daily driver, 5 times out of the year 5th wheel puller and my toy. The pros and cons would be great. thanks.

With a Drag Comp and Mach 4, why would you need a HRVP. Just call MWFI, good price and no core charge if you return your old one in 30 days. I do not know if tapping the pump effects core!. SNOKING

its not so much for the power of the hrvp that im looking at as much as it is the strength and durability in parts that the hrvp is made of. I spoke to II and got the impression that the hrvp is a better built pump with stronger parts than the regular pump. correct me if im wrong as that is why i am interested in knowing more info from thoughs who are running or have ran the hrvp.

Here is a post by jetpilot:

"Call around..... Nobody has anything different than anyone else. All run the latest electronics (not FedEx module anymore) all use the same programming. Bosch sets the standard for a VP44 pump and all Bosch certified shops do the same work. Look for a vendor that you trust and a warranty you like and then purchase from them.

Hrvp

I had Scheid put in there HRVP when my second stock VP44 started headin south on me. One of the big differences between the stock rebuild Scheid pump and there HRVP is that they use a brand new pump body for there HRVP. Beisdes that my HRVP runs much better then stock and if I maintain I get better mileage with the HRVP, about 1 or 2 mpg. Part of that could be from the old pump being in bad shape. The HRVP has a slight lopey idle in neutral but nothing that I find objectionable, idles smooth in gear. With my setup with Smarty on the upper numbers I put out a lot of smoke if I hit the throttle hard before the turbo spools up. I like mine and would do it again, hope this helps.

I like mine it does have a lopey idle with the mach 4s it was not noticable with the stock injectors, if anything happens I will replace it with the same... George

When I bought mine from II, They suggested I go with the standard pump and new RV275 injectors. They claim all their pumps get every new component available from Bosch. So, acording to II, the HRVP is no better component wise than the standard pump. Just a little diffetent machining for more output. My truck is a daily driver and tow a drag car on the weekends. I'm pleased with the setup so far and the pump/ injector combo was cheaper than the HRVP alone.

Sound bite HRVP44

I like mine. Listen to my lope with Mach 1. 6 injectors... http://www.esnips.com/doc/dd5fecb8-48b9-4110-9c3a-ff0f5ace6f53/HRVP44-LOPE:-laf

Last 60 days: adjusted APPS voltage, changed cam position sensor. Neither however removed the lope. I had thrown codes for both of the above. Additionally I removed the Banks Exhaust Brake (For Sale? need inline), installed the Phat Shaft 62, replaced F&R bands and new valve body in DTT, BD intercooler boots as the originals had issues with the new boost pressure!

Turned 100K!

some lope some don't

I've been running with a II hot rod pump since last summer. Mine idles as smoothly as the stock pump. I was told by the Triple D installation team that some lope & some don't.

well guys I went with the standard vp. i spoke with a few different shops and got alot of feedback. Just to let you know i called Rip from Source Auto in regards to 5" exhaust and ended up getting a vp44 through him. Great guy with alot of experience with our trucks. I told him I was going to tap the pump and lets just say I felt good about buying one through him.

Just for the record, depending on the version of the original pump and when it was made, they ALL get new outer cases - for a time, Bosch was using brass advance cylinders in the VP-44 - those were virtually GUARANTEED to fail prematurely - so when the rebuilders get one of those - and probably ANY core with wear internally - it gets a new case!

It's NOT a HRVP thing, just a necessary part of a proper rebuild. I have 2 II rebuilts, one on the truck - the other as a spare - plain standard pumps, BOTH have new cases...

BUT, all that said, both II and Blue Chip will tell you that the HRVP will typically NOT have as long a lifespan as a standard pump due to greater stress created by use of non-standard components in critical areas as compared to stock...

I love mine great fueling and lots of smoke

To qualify my opinion I have never ran a HRVP. But I recently had my choice to go with a HRVP or a SO. I chose the SO.

I liked the idea of great fueling, but I opted out because of more low end smoke. Also, I am really starting to enjoy the less ping noise and smoother running sound that comes without advanced timing for most of my driving.

My thinking was the HRVP is like installing bigger injectors to some extent. As opposed to a tuning box, you can never turn it off once you put it on. If that is what you want it is good, if not then it is not as good.

How many Hp is the HRVP rated for over a SO?

Jim

My II HRVP that I installed a few weeks ago idles smooth, and seems smoother altogether than the stock pump it replaced.
