I installed a new HRVP44 pump from II and I only removed the front set of lines to do it. # 1,2,4 are a set. I never messed with the other 3 but now after running the rig for a couple weeks I have to retighten the lines every time I drive it because they leak just a weep at the head connection. Even the lines that I didn't mess with now leak also. I would asume its from the higher pressure but why would they continue to leak after several retightens. I am getting to what is extremely tight in my mind.

Do I need new O-ring on the tubes or what?

Its not a bad leak but after 30 miles they are wet around some of the lines. Always a different one every day even some I thought I had stopped already.

I'd imagine that you might need new connector tubes along with o-rings (go to a bosch dealer if you have one close, it will save you 5. 00 or better, from what I hear). They are only supposed to be torqued to 28ft lbs, btw.

Cummins connector part #3944833 (20. 90ea), o-ring #3867043 (3. 23ea).

I imagine the leak is at the pump head... not engine head, right? This happens with injector lines sometimes. Losen all the fitting at the pump head and clean them well with brake cleaner and a lint free rag on all six connetors, pump too. The sealing surfaces since it is metal to metal, the smallest ammount of dirt, or sand can cause a small leak or a weep. Happens with the 12v plenty.

Connections on the CYLINDER head, not pump. Just weeps enough to see a little wet and small puddle. under the lines.

I had a similar problem and here's the things I did to stop the leaks.
1) new connector tubes and o-rings
2) use emory cloth to smooth the face of the plug that mattes to the tube. Be cleanly with this procedure.
3) put a very light film of grease on the hard line that goes thru the plug and to the threads.
You'll find the harder you try to torque the plug the more the hard injector line will want to 'follow' the plug around, putting a twist to the hard line. You may be able to get away with not replacing the connector tubes but if they're overtorqued excessively they can distort. Good luck.
Chuck

P. S. Sometimes it's hard to see where the leak is coming from. Use baby powder sprinkled under the injector lines to find leaks. Then when finished pressure wash the remaining off.
