Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) HTB2 barking......

Ever since I went to an HTB2/62 I can't prevent the thing from barking at full boost shifts. It only barks in 3rd and 4th gear hard accelerations onto the highway and such. But it hits 40-42psi and as soon as I go to shift, I just watch the boost gauge drop and jump at around 22-25psi. I can hear it really well, at first I thought it was just the wastegate slamming shut but after a while now I am certain I am barking it every time I hammer on the thing. Is there another way besides a blow-off valve that I can prevent this turbo from barking off of full boost? The only other way I have found to not bark it is slowly letting off the go pedal towards the shift point, but nobody wants to do that everytime they are blasting onto the freeway or drag strip. I really can't afford another if this one lets go due to this barking, so I have to do something about this issue.

joe... i bark the **** out of mine. i mean bad... it even barks letting off from half throttle... i used to think i was hard on it when it was in the 6 speed truck... lol autos are a whole new deal mine gets barked evertime i drive it. i hope they are as tuff as they say... so when i granade mine ill let you know how tuff they are but i havent herd of too many Htb2 turbos blowing up. hehe im on a mission to kill my head gasket!

Btw got it set to 42-45 psi. . somewhere in there. runs soooo much better then 35psi. wish i would have had it like that at HDDR

Mine does the same, but mostly when I am letting out of it in 5th gear. Waste gate is at 44lbs out the box. I was told not to worry about it, like justin says, it'll either be a headgasket or a new turbo.
