In the process of installing an HTB2 I have run into a problem. The original flared oil supply line will not attach to the HTB2. Is there a fitting/adapter that perhaps was not shipped with the turbo?
What year truck do you have? I've got a 2001 and did not have that problem. Mine looked just like a regular NPT fitting the best I can remember. It wasn't flared at any rate. Make sure that everything came out of the old turbo. Is it possible that you left another adapter fitting in there?
Yes. You need the adapter fitting. Can get them from Cummins. If you have the one from the stock turbo, it may be reused. I did run into a leak problem though. Didn't show up 'til 3 days after the install. The line would not seat properly. After I bought new fitting and line, I found that there a copper crush washer that sits in the bottom of the adapter fitting. If you can locate a new washer and drop it in the fitting, you will be fine.
On both my 96 and 98 there is not a spearate fitting on the HX35. The line screws right into the turbo itself with no adapter or additional fitting. Must be the newer truck have this fitting on the stock turbo?
bmoeller,
Thanks for the PN. I will head to Cummins in the AM to see if they can help me out.
Are the newer, say 01-02, oil supply lines different?
