High Tech Turbo has advertised a new turbo on the TDR, the HTB2. Does anyone have any experience with this turbo, good or bad? There has been a thread on the DTR about the turbo. Here's the shortcut to the website http://www.htturbo.com/dodge.htm

Tell us what you think!!

I read that thread which caught my attention. I hoped to get some input from some people that do not frequent that web site. Maybe a fresh opinion.

I have one on my truck, what would you like to know about it??

I can tell you that this thing rocks. MUCH better that the 40 I had on there. However I am running EDM injectors that are meant for a twin set-up, and this charger works just fine.

Lag is not an issue, and 40 lbs of boost comes on really quick!

Which turbo do you have, the HTB2 or the HTB2/64? Do you tow with your truck? Any idea what kind of *useable* (ie. for towing) HP you are making?

I'm looking for a turbo that'll let me run at least my #10 plate and maybe 370's while towing without having to miss the scenery because my eyes are glued to the pyro.

I know the current mantra is "Towing Twins" but at ~$4500 there's no way I can afford that right now and I can't believe that there isn't a single out there that won't allow for towing with just the #10.

Anyhow, thanks!

I'm sure vssman will chime in here...

I have the first turbo from HTT. I believe it is the 62. This turbo will fit your needs just fine.

I would have to guess I'm in the 500 to 525 HP range.

I have 370's witha #4 plate and am running HTT's 35/40 Stage 3 hybrid on a stock exaust housing right now. With timing at 16°, I don't have any major issues with high EGT's... but I don't tow. Talk about fast spool. The needle runs up so fast it's a blurrrr. In my never ending need for more HP, I'll most likely be adding a HTB2 or be building my own set of twins. Seeing Torque's set up, I think I probably will just go with the single HTB2. I'm not affiliated in any way with High Tech, but I can tell you they always answered my questions and have never lead me or any others that I know about wrong.

That's a lot of what I wanted to know.

Torque This - Did you have any issues installing the turbo, ie downpipe hookup or anything else?

I want to add delivery valves and some 370's and then add a turbo that I can use all the power. I already have to keep an eye on the EGT's if I stand on it from a start.

vssman - how is the smoke with your setup? I want a #4 but don't have the turbo to deal with it.

Aaron, the turbo install went very easy, I have a 2wd truck, so the shock tower wasn't an issue. I had a 40 downpipe, so I just cut the end off, and welded the new flange on.

Not affiliated with HTT, YOU WILL LOVE THIS THING!

On this downpipe issue, if you cut the end off an hx-40 downpipe is it any different than a hx-35 downpipe with the end cut off? I have a 4" exhaust now with my hx-35, will the HTB2 install require me to buy an hx-40 downpipe too?

Sorry to pester you with all the questions, this turbo sounds real good so far I just can't have the truck down waiting on parts. I need to get everything I need the first time.

I've never seen an HX-32 downpipe... The flange is 4". I also believe, the flange is for a Cummins L10 motor...

Sorry, it's early here and I typeo'd that. I have the stock hx-35 turbo now with a 4" exhaust. I'm just wondering if you knew if I could simply cut the end off my hx-35 downpipe and weld the flange on like you did with your 40 downpipe or are the downpipes themselves different somehow other than just the ends?

Smoke?? Yeah I got smoke. But nothing like Torque's custom injectors. With the timing advanced, it is pretty clear off idle as long as I don't punch it hard. WOT will keep the West Nile Virus in check... :-laf

My understanding of the differences between an HX35 4" down pipe and an HX40 4" is that the 35 connects to the elbow at a reduced diameter and I thought the 40 had a full 4" radius built into the pipe.

Will a 40 downpipe hook up to a typical 4" aftermarket exhaust? Specifically a MBRP system? What do they typically run $?

Don't waste your time buying a 40 down pipe then cutting off a the $$$ end for the HX-40 just call some on that sells down pipes for the B1 like I. E. Piers. it is a bolt in place pipe no welding needed

chris

mine is being put on as I type this :)

Are you saying a downpipe for a B1 has the same flange and uses the same clamp? Does it come with the clamp? Spending the extra $75 for the flange and clamp seems a little rediculous if there's an alternative.

Especially if the down pipe will bolt right up with no modifications. Chrisw, your a genius if that's all it takes to get the exhaust to bolt to a HTB2.
