Glad you were able to get support- a friend of mine and I were looking for info from them, they were no help at all, not even at the dealer level. As a result, BD sold two turbos and two manifolds.

they have been very good by phone and email but i feel choosing turbo is a big step and important so im having a hard time right now.

the truck is mainly used for playing around town and im never towing

I ran a 62/65/12 d-tech (borg warner) turbo as a stock replacement before I went to the twin compound setup I have now. It was a very good/excellent replacement for the stocker. Quick spool, better EGT's, slightly better mpg's, just overall a really nice replacement, and it was a noticable difference over the stocker. I considered the ss route, but what I got was a nice polished turbo with a better fit to the pocketbook leaving a few $$'s for other stuff. The difference between the 12 or 13 is not much, not enough to have made me go with the ss.

I chose the 62/65/12 because it was a good turbo to go to twins with down line. When I went to the twins, I once again chose a d-tech (borg warner) S475. They together are a really nice towing pair, and also really nice as a daily driving pair. When you want to get into them with a little street action, they'll push you into your seat and put a big smile on your face. Couple a set of twins with either 50 or 60 nozzles and you have some really nice power and also continued reliability.

Are the D Tech's real B/W turbos or a Chinese knockoff? I was wondering due to the price discrepancy between manufacturers.

Mine are the real deal - Borg Warners. I have not seen the Chinese knockoffs used in the d-tech kits, and I have seen several of their kits on friends trucks. The d-techs I got were from Diesel Power Source. There might be some knockoffs out there being sold by small operations, I have no clue as to which small shops are selling them, but that is usually where you will find them. I asked about them when I purchased my kit to make sure they were not Chinese knockoffs. The warranty information that came with my kit specs Borg Warner in it's language.

Also, I got my kit while they were/are having a sale on their kits, otherwise, their kits are in the same price range as all the bigger known guys, but then, the bigger known guys started somewhere too. I think eventually Diesel Power Source will becme very well know as their kits are excellent kits. Not some guy putting stuff together in his garage.

i wanted the smaller one so i later could upgrade to their compound setup. . nice company and very nice suport. . big thanks to sourceautomotive. biz talked over phone with bill and rip a couple of times. .

If you arent looking for insane power and you have the extra coin and if you eventually want twins anyway why dont you like @ the wicked (motorsport)diesel stocker/s400 twins kit. its around 2900 bucks and will support around 650-700 with lightening quick spool up. Just a thought? I have heard a lot of great stuff about d tech 62/65/12 but if you are wanting 600HP that turbo is gonna be a little on the small side. Smallest for that much hp that i would go would be a 62 71 14, but you would prolly be better something like a super b special or the stocker/s400 kit. Good luck in choosing :)
