Driving my 2008 3500 auto and when the truck is cruising at various speeds but definetly accelerating the engine "huffs" or Backfires causing a noticable lurch in the truck. The noise seems to come from just in front of the passengers feet. No trouble codes, RPM's stay the same, and engine keeps running. Anyone have any ideas? Dealer says no codes, and they cant recreate!

I too am having this problem,,BUT mines on a 98 ,,12 valve.

I was crusing about 80 for about 2 hours and no issues.

But on my return trip at about 72 mph it made the awful noise,,likeyou said under passenger side ,,exhaust)

I checked all gauges 3-4 boost,,7-8 EGT,,!!!??

I have no ideas. .

I slowed it down for about 3 miles,,then sped up,,an it did it again,,so slowed down an accelarated through the gears to 2800 rpms an NO ISSUES. . ??

I pulled over just to see if any thing I could see,,left the rest area an it never bothered again.

HELP

Do you have guages? It sounds like your turbo vane is sticking and loosing boost then breaking loose causing the poping sound and the lurch when boost comes back up. That sounds exactly like what mine was doing.

My truck does this on occassion. It seems to happen when I have the exhaust brake turned on and I am just starting out or slowing down for a turn and re-accellerating slowly. It dosnt happen if I accellerate a little harder it seems... only when I am 'feathering' the throttle. My dealer ran a bunch of checks and couldn't turn up anything wrong. Just a characteristic of the truck I think. I have had my turbo foam cleaned, EGR replaced, etc. No effect. Curious.

my 07. 5 does the same thing. Mine only does it during sox regen. The dealership said it's more common w/ after market intakes.
