Anyone been to Hungry Valley in California? I'm thinking about heading that way in the next couple weeks and was wondering if anyone had any experience.

Thanks,

Gorman/Hungry Valley are pretty cool places to ride. Perfect time of year for it right now actually, due to its higher elevation. It can get COLD during the winter months for us so Cal riders.

Excellent single track riding.

I wouldn't go as far as calling it excellent riding but there are some good trails (lots and lots of the better ones are closed as of a couple weeks ago). Try to do most of your riding far from staging areas, too many idiots and head on collisions out there.

I don't have any info on riding there but its interesting you mention it. The reason being I used to live across the freeway way up on the hill overlooking Hungry Valley. Every once in a while, especially Saturdays, we'd see emergency vehicles going in there. Drive safe

bikes or wheeling?

There are a couple of good jeep trails out there. There are also some pretty cool on-the-pegs trails out there on the sides of some hills up in the woods. Good loop rides up into the woods. I give it about a 7+ or so.

PM Jgheen he used to wheel his dually there Now he yanks the sleds with it

I sure did, used to anyway, now the truck is the puller like Bob said. Great place to tool around the trails, although I am not happy with their decisions to close the park when it either rains too much or snows. That is the best time to go and it pisses me off when they get over 1' of snow and close the park. I thought SVRAs were "use at your own risk?" I have wanted to knock some of those park rangers out with their idiotic park closures.

I haven't been up there in a while but just make sure you look at the weather in the winter time before you go. I have seen them screw lots of people and turn them back due to weather. Even out-of-staters... ... great way to gain a good reputation for a off-road park.
