Did some garage cleaning today:

The only man standing was in a wheelchair.

Can't hunt in BC w/o a guide. I don't specifically know in Alberta. The only time I hunted there was with a guide.

Are we even allowed to take our hunting rifles into Canada anymore? Last I heard was that if you did, the RCMP would regester it and then turn over the resistration to our BATF. Don't know if it's true, but would not surprise me in the least.

You can take rifles through Canada now but thet charge you $50. 00 at the border to get in to the country. They also ask you what you are going to do with it. I told em mine was fer squirl huntin' :) , the two legged kind. I did take the pistol grip off my Mossberg Pump so they wouldn't hassle me.

That 50. 00 crazy horse mentioned is Canadian funds. It works out to be about 30-35 US. You only pay one fee per person so you can take more than one gun and it is still only 50. 00 canadian. If you contact the Canadian government and register the guns to be transported then you can get a 5 year permit for 80. 00 Canadian, the only downside to this is it needs to be done several months before hand. You can do the 50. 00/1 year permit at the border crossing.

The last time I check into hunting in BC you had to have a guide to hunt as wyosteve mentioned. If you have ever driven to Alaska you realize the diversity of game that BC has, the only downside is the guide requirement. The Yukon also has some impressive muledeer, whitetails and elk (as seen in the headlights along the Alcan Hwy). The last I checked BC has 4 types of deer, 2 types of elk, 2 types of moose, 2 types of sheep, 2 types of bear, wolves, mountain lions, and goats.

Not trying to nitpick, but BC has 4 types of sheep-- Dall, Stone, Fannin and California Bighorn and there may be a few pockets that have Rocky Mtn. Bighorn. In any event, it is an awesome province both in terms of wildlife and scenery.
