i think in a case like this insurance takes a back seat to the government help. i dont think that any ins. company could foot even a small part of the bill for this. if they didnt go under all of our rates would go up to compensate for it.

we have madatory auto insurance here now. any time you make insurance madatory it just becomes and excuse for companies to gouge the public. it could go to a three strike (or 2,1,etc) deal where we help you out but you better be ready yourself next time. and yes i have an insurance claim filed right now for storm damage, and yes i had hurricane coverage (everyone down here's homeowners policies covers hurricane damage-flooding, well that's a whole different issue)

Thanks for the input. The only reason I asked this question is because a 2 years ago my Michigan homeowners insurance went up to cover earthquakes and hurricaines.
