Bully Dog 6" Exhaust?

Fitch Fuel Catalyst

I caught an episode of trucks, Where they installed a hurst shifter pistal grip with a nicely polished stick. Stacey installed it on an gas powered ram. Unknown what transmission it was? Gosh I was druling over the thought of having that. Oo.

Where to git one???

Jeff,

Any real auto parts store or hot rod shop can get you one. I wanted one of the classic Hurst black ball knobs so I picked up one with 3/8" threads. The threads on the shifter are 10mm which is not available in what I wanted so I drilled and tapped the one I had with the 3/8" threads. It worked great. If you can't find one locally I got mine at Tennessee Speed Sport. I'm pretty sure they have a website.

I studied the "TRUCKS" episode very closely and then did a lot of looking on the internet.

Stacey used a shifter mechanism and shifter available as a pair from Hurst that comes with the normal straight chromed Hurst stick with white ball.

Then he took a Pistol Grip shifter, cut the mounting point off at the bottom, ground it to angle the shifter closer to the driver, then re-welded it to the original mounting point.

This would be impossible to do on a 97 or earlier model truck unless you have upgraded to the 98 and newer transmission top cover with the closer shift pattern and screw on shifter.

What you would do is this. Buy a shifter arm from Dodge (about $20 I think Tomeygun said), cut the screw on adapter off, notch it with a die grinder, get your Pistol Grip where you want it and weld the fire out of it!

Yeah it would be relatively easy to do, but I don't want to pay $250 for the Pistol Grip as much as I would love to have it! :{

I borrowed some of Tomey's pics to explain a little better.

Good info but you're right, $250 is a little steep. Why not just buy the BD Short Shifter, and the pistol grip handle. I think I'm going to try that.

Keep in mind the angles needed to make the pistol grip right...

I will be working on this after I get a few SRT-10 models made

I bet this one would work:
