My a/c works fine but only blows out of the defrost vents, will not switch to dash or floor. I can reach up under the dash and manually pull on the "plunger" arm to get it to come out of the vents, but it will not stay and will not do it on it's own.

Does this mean the "plunger" thing needs to be replaced? I assume it's all electric and there is power to the switch.

Thanks.

That actuator has a vacuum line going to it, might be yellow. Pull it off and see if it has suction. If it does the actuator is bad, if not, you have a vacuum leak somewhere.

I think those door's open using vacuum?! Don't hold me to that, but I've had heater issues for 2 winter's and still haven't done anything about it. Anyway's, while trying to figure out my problem, someone told me on here to check for loose or broken vacuum line's. If you take your dash apart and look behind the controls for the heat and A/C there are line's coming out of the back. I don't know much about the system, but it's an idea. Good luck!
