Ok, it's my dad's 2003 1500 Hemi, but I imagine it's pretty close to our trucks.

His fan control is either OFF or FULL BLAST. Nothing in between.

Any ideas/fixes?

Blower motor resistor

Interesting you posted this problem today, as I had the same trouble the last few days and pulled out the service manuals and started trouble shooting at the relay under the hood, That checked out OK. Next step was the resistor mentioned above.

I removed the resistor in ~10 minutes. Broken porcelain body and copper flat spring solder joint broken. In other words the unit was fried!

I called a local dealer and was told the part was not in stock, 3 days to get, cost ~$150. 00 and labor 3hrs. Bull ####!!!!. #@$%!

Rockauto.com listed ACDELCO part number for about $61. 00 :).

but I need it right now and found it at the local NAPA Auto Parts Part #BR125 for ~$75. 00. About 10 minutes to install also. :-laf

Tools required: Stubby #2 Phillips, small mirror to scope out the work area, a trouble light and moving blanket for my old knees. :-laf

My truck is an '01' and I hope this will help you and other TDR member as I had tried the search function and didn't see any posts relating to the blower motor resistor. I almost lost my brains and ordered the dash control assembly that I had read about failing.

Good luck, Tom

That is absolutely ridiculous for a resistor. I'd go look for one at an electronics shop (ceramic resistors are a dime a dozen). Or, if you really wanted to get fancy, you can get a pulse width modulator for $25 here and have infinite fan speeds.

Where is this located on third gen's? Under the dash? Passenger side?
It is mounted on the A/C housing inside the cab and is usually visible by looking under the dash on passenger side(the resistortor coils are in the HVAC air stream) or by removing the glove box. Will be as described above with several wires plugged into it and mounted with two screws. bg
