Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Valve Tuneups??

The good news is, my A/C is cold and my heater is hot. The bad news is, I can't seem to get anything in between.

Regardless of where the little arrow points on the blue-to-red dial, given that blue still means cold and red still means hot, I seem to only get max cold or max heat. This inability to dial in a moderate temperature means I have to turn the unit on and off frequently. Needless to say this is annoying on a long trip.

While this is probably a warrenty issue, I'd prefer not to go the place where the unsold Dodges live, so any troubleshooting tips are appreciated.

Note, I do have the Cab Fresh filters on the cowl, don't know if that means anything but it does seem somehow related to ventilation.

Thanks,

Neil

Our trucks use what's called a blend door to control the temp. Where you set the dial determines how much the door is open mixing air though the heater core vs. outside air, this is vacuum controlled. What you describe with only full cold or full hot makes me think the blend door and it's driver are working fine, the control (that you turn) is malfunctioning.

Easy fix for the unsold car storage place, just pop the dash and replace the control, probably take a half hour after the truck sits in their lot for three days.
