The HVAC vent control is erratic on my truck (see sig). I can switch from floor to dash to defrost vents and sometimes the vents will change (after a while), but mostly does not. It seems like what ever kind of motor is used for controlling the vent doors is sticking. Anyone have any experience with this? I have an extended warranty, with a $100 dedectable, which should cover the repair, but would perfer to fix it myself if there is a simple fix. This might very well be the first real problem I've had with the truck in 4 years.

Klenger, Ive always had a very slow reaction on this subject. It seems like the vent positions open and shut when they want to. My old 1st gener was far superior than this 04. 5 has been. Always wondered about this.

I was thinking about a 6. 7, but with the reported milages they are getting, and the 20+ that I am getting with my almost paid off 04. 5, I've regained my mind. Actually, I'm thinking that my next RV might just be a gasser motor home, so the truck would be replaced with a small toad at that time. Don't expect that to happen for at least another four years.

Its a $800-1000. repair. Pay the 100 and be done with it. It took me 4 hours and $150 in parts to fix the same problems.

Klenger.

I have the same truck you do and my vents are ok so far. Also have extended warranty which I will use if the gunny sack on me.

I am in Casa Grande at Palm Creek RV Resort space 183 this winter. Stop by for a visit/brewsky :) if you come up this way.

Actually I am back in Alaska but will be back there 1/31/08 until April.

I finally got it fixed yesterday (Tucson Dodge). Paid the $100 deductable for the extended warranty repair. The service writer mentioned that the tech said that it was a b$%#h to change (my description, not his). He had to tear the whole dash out. I gave them an extra day to make sure they took their time putting it back together.
