Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) FASS Question

I've seen some HX-35s advertised in various classifieds with housings that have HX-40 outlets. This allows them to take an HX-40 downpipe, which eliminates the restrictive 3" stock exhaust elbow.

Does anyone know who does this modification? Are the benefits worth it?

Thanks. From what I read, it seemed like the housings were modified rather than using an adapter, but I can't say for sure. I hadn't seen this adapter before. It accomplishes removing the stock elbow, so that has to be good. I'm not sure when these "modified" housings flare to 4". If its at the tail end of the housing, then this adapter would accomplish the same thing.

The Banks Brake eliminates that wimpy stock exhaust elbow too. It also unshrouds the wastegate. Besides it's a top notch exhasut brake.

i could be wrong but most likely it is just the opposite. hx40 inlet and compressor wheel on the h3 35 body and exh out that is still 3". i checked into getting a 4" outlet on a 35 exh housing a while back and had no luck at all. even then it is still a small exh wheel and throat of the charger. hence 35/40 hybrid.

There's one for sale that clearly states it has a "4" exhaust outlet" and goes on to say its an "exhaust outlet from an HX-40". I sent the seller a message asking who did the mod, but he has not replied. Its possible that it could be the PDR adapter BarryG made reference to.

I have a 35/40 with the Super 40 wheel & 14cm housing and I really like it. I just wanted to remove some of the exhaust restriction. I'd be interested in the seller's housing, but its a 12cm and at my power (mid-upper 300s), it'd probably bark all the time.

like i said i could be wrong, but i had that adapter also on my hybrid to my hotpipe in my twin setup. hope it works out for u.
