Just renewed my subscription, and mainly looking at injectors, and concerned about EGT's.

What's difference, and how can you tell, unless automatic to auto-vs-stick.

stock turbo, stock downpipe, stacks/walker muffler thereafter.

Thanks.

The HX-35 turbo is on the manual transmissions, and uses a boost elbow (on the compressor housing) to activate the waste gate, and has a 12cm exhaust housing

The HY-35 is on the automatic transmission trucks, does not have a boost elbow and has a 9cm exhaust housing.

Hmmm....

My Auto truck came with an HX-35, and I still have it on the work bench in my garage, I wonder if it will work in a twin turbo setup

I don't think your HX will work on any twin turbo set up and that you should sell it to me for just a few pennies :) :)

I believe that the HY only came on the 01' or newer auto's

HX is the better turbo for a heavier modded engine. The HY is better if you want a quicker spool up. This is why they put the HY on the 01' and newer autos. The disadvantage to the 9cm HY is that it will create a lot more heat at the manifold.

please correct me if I'm wrong. .

Thanks...........

All this time I thought I had an HY due to it being an auto. Well, that is one less thing to worry about for a little while. Was afraid I would need to replace turbo as soon as I started bombing, because of EGTs. Now it might can wait a while.

i have a 99 auto and the dealer is about to replace the turbo under warrenty. Will they replace it with the same one or will they put the newer style on? I hope the same one so i can screw in my boost elbow and not have to deal with a turnbuckle.

My turbo has a metal tag attached to it with turbo model, serial number, etc. Just thought it might clear up some questions for everyone. I'm assuming the tags are on all models, maybe not?
