Well I just put a reman HX-35 on and took it for a test drive tonight. I am tempted to say that I have a bazillion HP and my performance is up 314% but I won't. Ok I got that out of my system. The boost goes to 20Lbs and stays there I can feel it still pulling as the RPMs climb. The waste gate actuator is adjustable (from a different turbo) and I'm thinking of tightening it up, has anyone else tried this? The EGTs are higher but I believe I have some room before I have to drive by the gauge. I just have a BHAF and everything else is stock. TIA

PS I forgot to mention that it is a 12^cm exhaust housing

Here I go.......

My EGTs are in the 900* range. I vaguely remember reading about someone who touches 1700* I don't want to go there. With more testing this AM I found that my smoke is gone, there is some haze but no smoke to speak of. I guess it means I need more fuel?! :-laf I'm thinking I should set the wastegate for more boost first then turn the pump up. I've got this feeling I'm starting this slide down a slippery slope.

I put a HX=35 on my 92 but changed out the exhaust housing to a PDR

16 cm non wastgated. I hit 30LBS of boost wide open but have yet to get the EGTs to 1000. I need more fuel. But I love that turbo setup. See readers rigs for install and exhaust.

Unhook the wastegate and see what you get. You may not need it at your current fuel settings. I have a 14WG on mine, and it isn't hooked up. No troubles. Also, is your pyro pre or post?

Travis. .

The pyro is pre/before the turbo. Travis wouldn't I want to have the wastegate closed as much as possible to create the maximum boost, as long as the EGTs are OK?

LEggers your thread has got me thinking, probably some others too, that the spring should be the next thing. :p

So , I take it the HX 35 just bolts right up ? I am in need of this in the near future, not sure what way to go.

I run a PDR HX-35 and yes it bolts right up. I am using the same 16CM non waste gated exhaust housing that I had on my H1. Here is a picture of it installed.

I asked a friend about putting an HX-35 on my truck and he said there about the same as the HC1 and it wasn't worth it. I thought about getting the PDR one with a 16cm housing. Would that make a big difference on my stock truck? Thanks, Alex

My biggest problem when doing 360's with the HC1 was all the turbo bark I was getting. It soon broke after that. . well not all the way I found cracks on the intake side wheel. :--)

If the line is disconnected, the gate is slammed shut. The same as not having one. I don't believe there is a way to adjust a stock WG head. You would need to make the spring under the diaphram stiffer, or have a way to tighten it so it takes more boost to move it. You don't want to mess with the rod length, that is a set it and forget it part.

Travis my mistake, I thought you ment to disconnect the rod.

So I tried the Travis disconnect today and found that my boost runs to almost 30 pounds. I don't believe that the EGTs went over 800* but that may have been from my focusing on the boost needle shaking around 29 or 30 mark.
