Clarification is needed here but I will make a few asumptions. An HY-35 has a 3. 5 inch exhaust opening and the HX-40 has an 4 inch exhaust opening, (HY-35 ... 3. 5 and HX-40 ... 4. 0). As for the clarification part, if you are referring to the turbine housing, then no, they are different. The HY uses a clamp on turbine housing and the HX uses a bolt on. Now if you were referring to the intake hose from the air cleaner, than yes, they are the same. The HX-40 is a bolt on part that replaces the HY. You just have to buy a exhaust elbow for under 100 bucks. I hope I answered your questions, (and not incorrectly):D

If you have a four inch exhaust system the HX-40 will bolt on in place of the HY after purchasing an exhaust elbow for under 100 bucks and have a four inch down pipe added to your exhaust system (if it isn't four inch then it would not work). If I am wrong about the stock exhaust not working then someone will correct me. :D I hope I answered your questions, (and not incorrectly). Oo.

Somewhere I screwed up when editing and have two post. In the first post I said it would bolt on and forgot about welding the four inch downpipe. You would need a four inch exhaust to make this work. Sorry about that. It is late and I am tired. :D
