What are the differences between the two? I have a 2001 which is on it? which is better for power. (I intend on drag racing this ram)

the ETH HO comes with an HX35 [12 sq. cm. exhaust housing] you can switch it to a 14 or 16 housing for better exhaust flow.
The ETC comes with the HY35 [ comes with a 9 or 10 sq. cm. exhaust housing] which as of right now cannot be interchanged with a bigger housing, you have to change out the entire turbo.

The difference between the HX 35 and the HY 35 turbos are the size. On the 98. 5 to the 2000 trucks they are equipped with the HX-35 12cm2 turbo, and the new 2001 and 2001. 5 manual transmissions have the same.

Though the 2k1 and 2k1. 5 trucks with an Auto transmission have the HY-35 turbo, which I believe is a 9cm2 housing. Guys. . help me out if I am wrong.

Hope this helps you out. BTW... Welcome to the TDR. .

Hemi grab it quick, it sure looks like an HX40 to me #ad
Is there a way to get the fellow that's selling it to give you the numbers of its tag? If so e-mail them to me & I'll let you know what it is for sure.

Piers, I'll e-mail the seller and see if he'll give me the numbers off it.

Good price so far, It will go way up though. Although its not clocked and does not have modified wastegate linkage for the OE Ram actuator. The non machined surface for the air intake hose made me think it was a 40.

I already have an HX40 from you. #ad

The seller said he does not know what model it is. It came without a tag. He tried to match it up with the dimensions from the Holset webpage.

On the compressor side (bottom picture) it has a 0209 stamped in black paint. My HX40 has the same number stamped there.

So... . My 2001 manual definately has an HX turbo? Would an HX40 benefit me? What are those benefits?

Without pushin alot of fuel you are gonna lose a good bit of bottom end quickness with the HX40, but with the right amount of fuel you should be able to bring it to life on bottom end still. Basically with the bigger housing on the HX40, it takes longer to build boost but once it's there you will have alot more on top end.
