Competition Out of speed

Competition Canfield

I was wondering with my current setup if i could be anywhere close to 13's in the 1/4 mile I am right at about sea level so altitude is no problem, I have had a low 13 second car before, it doesn't feel near that fast, but it feels pretty quick, my spool up is just about instant now which is amazing for a good sized turbos (not compared to some people put on these engines) but compared to the car i had (was a 3000gt vr4 twin turbo with a few goodies) but just curious about what time could i hit... thanks

I'd be surprised if you could make it all the way down the track without the EGT's being sky high if you've got all that fuel and you're still running a stock turbo!

with an 16 or 18cm turbine housing and some water/alky injection, it'd be a different story ;)

I did 13. 9 with BD2's and a DragUFM on a PDR35/12. The guy I bought the turbo and injectors from got down to 13. 7 with the same setup.

Actually, that's usually not the case. Is that pre- or post- turbo readings OaborbaG?

Your big advantage with the auto and 4x4 is the launch. You'll dog most street tire'd Mustangs and Camaros pretty bad. Assuming around 430hp with your setup and that turbo, you should be in the mid 14's now. Step up to a bigger turbo and you'll be real close to the 13's I'd imagine. Depends on weight though too.

LMAO! mine's not that bad, but there's no way in hades I'd make it down the 1/4 at WOT!! heck, I think the 1/8 mile would be a challenge! I'm workin' on a cure for that though ;)

egt reading is pre turbo, so its accurate, and weight is pretty much stock, minus the spare tire, however much that weighs, I'm still debating on what turbo to get, i want a lot of power out of one turbo, something a little crazier than an hx40... .

I just went for a test drive and about 100mph the egt is crossing 1500 thats flooring it from a stop in 2wd, i notice it doesn't climb fast until i go into lock up and thats when i hit 40psi, and also when the truck really starts to move :D wish i had that all the way through the gears, it felt really nice though, i just wish i had a lockup controller so i could set the speed

happens i work at a autoparts store :D I'm also wondering why i'm not getting the smoke i thought i'd get, the guy i got the injectors off of had a bigger turbo=more air/lesssmoke, and he could pillow out black smoke, with no fuel mods and two exhaust exits, mine basically goes away after the initial stomp on the gas, dirty fuel filter maybe?

FWIW

OaborbaG,

I've got the same injectors that you have, a fairly aggressive fueling box (like you), the same year truck, the same tires, and the same turbo. The main difference in our trucks is the transmission. My best run down the 1/4 was 16. 018. Granted, this was the first time EVER that I drag raced. I read somewhere on here that all things being equal, a manual transmission truck needs to make 100HP MORE just to keep up with an auto. I don't know how that translates into E. T. , but I do know that 2+ seconds (what you'd need to shave off of my E. T. to hit the 13's) is an eternity when it comes to drag racing. Obviously, you have a HUGE advantage because you don't have to shift. Personally, I'd be pleasantly surprised if you hit 13's with your current setup.

As far as your smoke issue is concerned... beats the heck outta me. I've made people's automatic headlights turn on before with the cloud that I can belch outta my stacks. You got a fuel pressure gauge? Maybe you're not getting enough #2 in there. Just a thought.

I run consistent 14. 10's at 1800 foot elevation track, with my setup. You should be close to a 13. You might need a little more air to take advantage of those injectors. Be careful with the 4x4 launches as it doesn't say if you have billet shafts.

I do have the billet shaft that the make thats what the stage V is from ats what psi is good to launch at? sitll tryint to figure out how to get my 4wd to work, i've posted in the offroading section for help
