03 dual filter mouting kit

OEM Battery Life. How are yours?

I just returned from my test drive after installing a Stage 2 kit from HiTech Turbo. Kit consist of a 8 blade 60cm HX40 compressor wheel and compressor housing that works with the HX35 factory turbo on my 95.

Others have reported on this before, just thought I'd give my first impressions. It was a easy project, if you've ever adjusted your own valves or installed a larger turbo exhaust housing, it'll be a piece of cake. 2 hrs. max.

My initial reaction is mixed, I'd hoped to see a reduction in max egt's, I can still see 1500 degs. on a 55 to 80mph run. But it does take longer to get there.

Less lag with the non-wastegated 16cm exhaust housing, and much less smoke in a full fuel 4th gear run. Also picked up about 4lbs of boost, now making 40lbs or so with no load on the truck. I've noticed that a load (hay, backhoe) will allow the engine to make 4 lbs or so of additional boost.

Would I do it again, well, I'm kinda disappointed in the lack of reduction in egt's. It'll take a little driving to see how I like it.

One last thing, I've got noticeable turbo noise now at a constant cruse. I do have the Scotty hole in the cowl and before the turbo was only noticeable under load. Noise isn't bad, just there.

I'm surprised at the lack of reduction in EGT's. But less smoke means you are making use of some of the "extra" fuel being dumped into the cylinders. This should mean more HP and more PSI of (boos which you did see). Please keep us posted. I am curious to hear your findings after you log a few more miles.

I didn't use the 35/40 kit, but I did get a new bearing housing, shaft, impellers from HTT for a blown 40 that a friend had.

Put on the compressor housing and exhaust housing and am loving every minute of it.

HighTechTurbo was a very good place to deal with!!! :)

I just put on the stage 2 kit, (HX-40 housing and wheel), earlier this week. Haven't had a chance to really test it, yet, but initial impressions are more boost, less smoke, and slightly lower EGT's. Will be taking it to Kauffmans' this weekend, so we'll see how it does on the dyno, and the road trip. Will post afterwards.
