i swapped on a hx35 from a 2001 H. O. (which i am guessing is the 56mm inducer) where is a good place to order a wheel and rebuild kit, and if it just barely rubs would it mean a new compressor housing too? this truck now feels slower than it did with the little 50mm H1C is this because of the edge of the fin rubing and not spooling?

swapped th oldh1c back on for now but connsidering a 351ve as well (from otther post) but if i rebuild this turbo is there a more desirable wheel? i kow youobviously want the 56mm inducer but what about blade count this turbo was originjally off of a 01 H. . 6 speed truck

I wouldn't mess with a 351VE, tried it on my '01 and wasn't that impressed. Then I tried the standard 351 off a 2006 Cummins and liked it a lot. Has a 60mm compressor and you can also enlarge the wastegate port for better flow on the exhaust side but it's pretty OK the way it is. The main issue with this turbo though is if you install it with a 2nd Gen manifold you have to clock it, meaning you won't be able to use the wastegate actuator. I rigged mine with a brake spring and it worked surprisingly well. Other guys put a 3rd Gen manifold on with 3rd Gen downpipe and intercooler pipe, but this only works on manual trans trucks because autos have the trans heat exchange unit on the side of the engine in the way.

This is the turbo that came on 5. 9s from 2004. 5 until the 6. 7 came out. It is pretty efficient below about 35psi, definitely better than the stock turbos on 12V & 24 Valves and early 3rd Gens, but past high 30s PSI it quickly becomes inefficient like other stock HX35s.
