I have a H1C with a 16cm housing on my truck making 27 lbs boost. I have the chance to upgrade to a hx35. What is the difference performance wise and physicaly between the two turbos? Also what is a hx35w? Thanks copterdoc

As far as stock vs stock on the turbos, not really sure.....

The "w" in HX35W means that it has a wastegated turbine housing. The later model HX35's have the wastegate acutator mounted to the compressor housing, the older style has the actuator mounted to the turbine housing. BTW, how much $$ for the HX35 that you're looking at? Which turbine housing does it have? (probably 12cm)

I understand the differences are this:

The pinwheels are slightly larger

Not sure if the shaft is bigger ?????

The tend to spool a bit faster because of the pinwheel difference

They have a better efficiency map or boost range

They were once described to me as being somewere in between the WH1C and the PDR HX35 in performance. Kind of a 1/2 step above the stock WH1C.

Remember I'm not a turbo expert so I'll gladly defer to someone else. Nascar Mark has run both on his own personal truck and could give a great comparison since he doesn't have the nickname "wildman" for nothing... :D:D

the H1C is basically the precursor to the HX35. the exhaust housings interchange.

The W's are wastegated (WH1C HX35W).

The HX35 is a little bigger on the top end flow wise at normal boost levels the difference is negelgable.

Mark
