Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) HX35 wastegate question

Right now, I have the wastegate disconnected on my stock turbo.



I have the fuel adjusted so that i have to be running pretty hard to be seeing egts above 1300*, But I can easily hit 1500* racing and such.



IF I reconnect the wastegate and get it so that only opens at higher boost levels, will it dump enough exhaust to lower my upper end EGT's without hurting my boost output?



I know it's beating around the "turbo upgrade" bush, but I need something until I can pop for a turbo.

Reconnecting the wastegate on the turbo will help a little. Putting a larger exhaust housing such as a 14cm with wastegate or 16cm non wastegated would help out with the plate you have.
