Has anybody run a stock hx40-16 and then had it Piersified, how much difference does it make? Is spool up faster and egt's lower?

nfox:

I had a "stock" HX-40/16 which I ran on my truck for a

very short period of time before Piers did his "mods"

for me on that same turbo.

The difference is amazing!! Piers' turbo spools up

MUCH faster, the smoke is reduced (IMO), the EGT's

on my truck were lower and you have MUCH better

reliability with Piers' modifications!! My son is

"borrowing" the Piers HX-40/16 right now to run

on his 2001 24 valve. We have run this turbo for

almost six (6) months now with no problems

whatsoever!! There are many other members

that are running Piers' HX-40 and I don't believe

there have been any failures yet.

Piers has done a GREAT job in modifying these

HX-40's!!!

Hope this has helped you.

Piers recommends that his "Modified HX-40/16" stay at

about 40lbs. He "set" mine at that amount and as I said

above we have had no problems with it.

As "Paintersdsl" said, they will go higher, but they may

also come apart!
