I'm installing an HX40 on my '94. The problem is that the compressor outlet isn't close to the old one in size or shape.

I posted this on the 911 forum but I figured I'd try here, more likely to get a response...

The new outlet has a small rib around the end of the OD like would be used to keep a hose from blowing off. The elbow it needs to connect to has an o-ring flange/clamp arrangement. It looks like the ID's are the same but the OD of the compressor is about 3/8" smaller than the flange OD. The elbow OD is much smaller than that and tapers to a larger size as it makes the corner to the intercooler so I don't see how I could slip a hose on there.

My truck is an early model and had the WH1C turbo but the connection looks the same as what's shown here.

If you've fixed this please help!!!

Edit: PDR is closed today, I called DD and was told I need a different compressor housing. I'll probably cut the old housing and the new housing and get them welded together to make the right connection unless someone here has a fix...

I believe you'll need a new down pipe for the HX40. Not sure on that with the WH1C turbo though. I do know that when I've seen an HX40 put on an HX35 equipped truck that we had to put a new downpipe on it. I'm sure that the new downpipe would be cheaper/less risky than cutting the housings and welding them together.

Steve,

Are you confusing his exhaust side with the intake side (output of the compressor)? I was, until I re-read his first post.

But I guess the issue is moot, now!
