HX40 +e brake????

What are the e brake's that will work with the PDR hx40 any one have a PDRhx40 with a e brake?

They do exist, in the form of the BD remote mount. Piers Diesel is a good place to get the brake too. Hope this helps.



I think US Gear has a 4" remote mount too, but I have not heard much positive on it, the BD gets really good reviews.

BD makes a 4" brake that mounts inline, after the down pipe. I've had mine for over a year now and it works great .

Seems to me when leafing through Pacbrake's offerings they list a model to fit the 8. 3-which would indicate HX40 to me. It is air-operated instead of vacuum as well-but that could be worked around. However, I suspect that there's not enough firewall clearance on a Dodge to allow its use. Somebody with more brains than me help me out here!



This is the biggest obstacle to a turbo upgrade for me-I'm not willing to lose my exhaust brake-and I suspect the conditions I run the truck in will cause sticking or outright failure of a remote brake. We're talking snow/salt/sand/mud/dust (sometimes even combinations of the above! ) on a daily basis..... I just don't want it mounted under the truck.

Jason, call and talk to Piers. I remember sketchy details of him massaging one into the downpipe for someone that just could not have it undeneath. I could almost swear it was Piers

Thanks much for the tip Howard! I have to call him one of these days to talk turbo stuff with him-I'm in need of an upgrade before the Diesel Dyno Stampede and I can't justify the price of a B1. Just gives me one more reason to get off my fat old butt and pick up the phone!

With the BD remote mount 4 in brake we can go vaccum or air operated. Vaccum is the preferred method because your truck already has a vaccum pump. If you are going to the air brake you would have to add a compressor.

I would not say that my US Gear 4" inline e-brake sucks in any way. Sure, I have a few issues with it, but it works as advertised.



It's electrically operated instead of vacuum like the BD model. You just put it wherever it fits in your exhaust, and then run an electrical connector to it, and that's it.



My issues with it are that it's engagement and disengagement are noisy and it has a self-test that it goes through whenever you start the truck (unless you remember to override it). Other than that, it works fine.

Jstarnes, I had to go from Pacbrake to BD 4" remote when I went with the B 1. Kurt installed it on the downpipe, it was a tough install, on & off quite a few times, but is working great for over 25K mi. now. He did a real neat install!

Thanks Larry, I had been thinking it was Piers that put one in the downpipe.
