For all you guys running the hx40 can you tell me the model # you have? I am trying to do some research but need exact #'s.....

Also did your turbo require anything other than being clocked to bolt up (besides a downpipe)? If so what else was needed/involved?

Thanks,

Doug S.

HX40w--is all I can tell ya on that end and it should come with the gaskets you need, but you may need some 3/8" bolts and nuts(I think that's the size to bolt it back onto the manifold & the downpipe you know of-hope this helps----chris

Jet... you'll need the 4" band clamp to connect it to your downpipe. Also, the stock HX-40 has the wastegate actuator setup differently than the HX-35s in the Dodge trucks. You should have the actuator assembly changed. Mine wasn't and I made it work by turning the actuator assembly head 180 degrees and rerouting my heater line. It's still very close to the exhaust manifold but it works. By the way, I love my 40. Good luck.

Hoss:

An HX-40 is a Holset Turbocharger which
is put on the 8. 3 Cummins Diesel Engine.
It flows alot more air than our HX-35's
and that is why when H. P. gets above
about 350 some of the members end up
going to it. At those H. P. ratings the
HX-35 is supposedly "off it's efficiency
area" and I believe it because my truck
is suffering right now too. I also hope to
have one soon.

Hope this has helped you!

Where are you guys finding the part numbers on your HX-40s? I just looked all over mine and couldn't find any 359- part numbers, they all started with 353.

BTW, I didn't get to install mine today because of the **** weather. I'll have to just see how bad EGTs are with the stock turbo pulling the Sunol Grade. Oh well. Monday.

supposed to be the truth--with the increased demand and then the rash of recent failures they've increased the price to cover their butts----that's what I've heard more than once---chris

I stopped into the Utah distributer for Holset (High Tech Turbo) a couple of weeks ago. I was told that a month ago about half the HX40 models prices were almost doubled. the rest remain either unchanged or had a very little increase.

High Tech is a small company with a vast amount of talent (over 15 years in business). They recommend a hybred HX35 over the HX40 for out trucks, which is also a lot cheaper way to go. They've never advertised in the TDR because they felt the rates were prohibative. They've got very competative priceing though.
