Jonz - I had heard the same thing from DD about six weeks ago, but they didn't have any details. Do you have any more info regarding what the HY upgrade entails and when they will have it out?

I just installed an HX40-16 (stock) and I'm pretty pleased with it. The lag doesn't seem that much worse than my HX35. Best of luck.

DD may be taking longer for one important reason. They perform research until the item meets strict quality and reliability standards. If and when the product meets those standards, the product goes on sale.

EGT's says it is time for a HX40. all the hp pro's please help. I have read the post's on this subject but still have some questions. so here I go:
Recommended mods for HX40?

Hp gains over hy35?

What can i expect on powerband changes?

Less smoke off the line?

Majestic Turbo seems to have a grt price($880. 00) any comments good or bad on this turbo or vendor?

Best price on 4 inch downpipe? Where?

What should it cost to swap and who in so cal can do it?

any other comments or sugestions greatly appreciated

I have the same issue but I dont want the HX40 due to the turbo lag that will be present. I talked to some guys at Diesel Dynamics and they are supposd to have a new exhaust side to the HY35. They said I could expect 200+ drop in EGT's and I will not lose my spool time. Cost supposed to be around $650. I would assume that if you are doing more performance mods in the future then the HX40 would be in line.

For any members considering the HX40 I would strongly suggest checking out BD. I think, check that, I know Chris T. would second that opinion. Chris runs his at 55 psi's daily, mine see's 40 psi's daily, no broken shafts and fast spool up.

I was just gonna say the same thing. I still don't see where all this "lag" everyone is so god-awfully avoiding. I must mention too that aside from what I read in the other HX40/Majestic Blues postings, I don't approve of any tinkering with the innards of a very precise piece of machinery. It is built to spin at 100,000s of rpms and if it needed to be toyed with, the designers would have done so. If it needed to be balanced, it would destroy itself upon the first use. I chose it initially because I had achieved the level of modification on the 12 valve engine that was running beyond the capability of the 16cm housing stock turbo and drive pressure was beginning to overcome boost. Scott was worried about getting his initially, but one ride in his newly modified rig put all those doubts to sleep. Now he beats up on Mustangs. It's nice--the feeling you get when you know that the kid you just smoked is gonna be waiting for the speed shop to open the next day because the 100hp muffler and K&N aren't working because some suped up diesel beat him and that just can't be!
