hi looking for advice, i'm upgrading- tweaked pump and 370 injectors. should i upgrade the stock turbo to a hx40 and what housing should i use? currently 230 plate , 4k springs, afc springs, bhaf, stock turbo and injectors. thanks Ian

With your pump tweaked and some 370 injectors go with the hx40 with a 16cm housing and have it modified by Piers and you'll be very happy. Oo.

How would they modify it?? Performance compressor wheel?

When Piers modifies a hx40 turbo they zero balance it and they install heavy duty shaft bushings and it gets a bigger compressor wheel and they modify the exhaust housing to make it spool faster. Awesome turbo it works very well for me. Oo.

Hi, for the setup i'm planning on, see top of post, what kind of hp am i lookin at . thanks Ian the pump is supposed to be around 365hp and i will be installing 370 injectors.

You don't have enough fuel to worry about a turbo yet. Get the injectors, delivery valves, grind that plate down, then you'll be ready. Don't worry about Peirs stuff. Just get you a stock HX-40 and you'll be square. If the turbo is new it's zero-balanced. You can find them online and some other places for ~$500 if you look. You can't beat that.

If the turbo is new, it has standard bearings, and is balanced. Not Zero-Balanced.

A modified turbo has had the extra time spent on it to Zero Balance it. Holset has a tolerance on turbo balance, where people who "zero-Balance" have no tolerance, or a tolerance that is miniscule.

Another thing i forgot to mention was when Piers does his work to hx40 they also open up the oilling holes in the shaft for better lubrication of the bushings, and no a stock hx40 will not take the abuse that a modified one will stand up too.

yea piers is good but it also will cost you out of the ying yang. it all depends what you want if you are racing and need quiker spool then what is that worth to you. i dont know how a stock hx40 will behave with those mods my guess is well. let me know how it goes. you can get a hybrid hx35/40 which is nice for about 650-700 bones. www.htturbo.com

I had a PDR Hx-40 and when it came on it was great. However, if you live and drive at high alltitude you'll be upset with the "lag", it's terrible. Lower elevation not a problem. I now have a PDR Hx-35, works good, but I miss the extra power and rush of the 40 when it got good and ready to perform.

My PDR HX35 is a great turbo and a nice improvement over a stock turbo. I am prolly around 435hp now and can go no further with this turbo but it works well now and was under $600.
