there an hx50 turbo i'm thinking of getting, my question is, how good is a stock hx50, and will it bolt up to a stock 24v exhaust manifold. pros and cons of doing htis would be welcome thanks and does any one ahve a size comparison, i have a huge holset turbo in my backyard, no idea what size it is, all i know is its huge, inlet is about 5. 3 inches, any and all comments are welcome thanks

Stock HX50 is lag pig! You need lots of fuel and really a cam to make it work well. I don't think it'll bolt right up, well, the one we got didn't anyway, welded a flang on it to make it bolt up. Exhaust is clamp style vs bolted also so that'll have to be changed.

We are R&Ding a Hx50/55 ball bearing'd hybrid that is really doing well. Have a few issues we are ironing out, but it is spooling really well for the air it'll flow. Made several mods to it to help with the spool up to make it streetable but is really being built for pulling. It'll build 50 lbs all day long. Not gonna be a cheap turbo but for what it'll do, would make a good option for a big single, good spooling, good flowing turbo vs the price of twins when we need more air. Goal is flow of a 50, spool of a 40. Which I think we have now.

i figured it was a lag pig, umm the turbo i have right now not installed of course, but in my back yard, i don't have any comparison to like an hx50 but its much bigger than my hx35 and i know the flange is different, its bigger, wher can i get a flange to match up or exhaust manifold for that matter, one i know a guy that is running 60psi all day on one turbo, he has a bell turbo i know that for sure, no idea anything past that, and another guy running 58psi, he said its a turbo off of an n14 cummins??? no idea whats that anyways jus thought i'd throw that out there thanks for the input

www.piersdiesel.com has the adapter plates and what not for hx50. He can get ya what ya need. Any turbo shop can get ya stuff. Call your local big truck repair joint and ask em who does there turbo work. Most are willing to help. Most are diesel junkies as we are and love to see people making horsepower. They can probably identify it for ya. If ya post a picture of it here I know somebody here will know as well.
