hy 35 boost limits

From what I have been reading after 35# a hy35 is past it usefullness. Is it that it takes more energy to spin it that the boost produces? I can putout 45# now but if I wastegated to 35# what would that do to my power and egt's? I want a hx 40 and 4 " exhast but cant aford one right now. Any one have one cheap????

27-28 is about all dad's 01 can get with dd2's,and an ez. He has no egt problems at all with it,just a little smoke trail WOT,that i dont have with dd3's ,and the comp on level3 where i have much more power than him,and less smoke,the HY35 is good for stock engines,we are looking for a used hx35 for him now. Funny how his spool up isnt noticably quicker than mine,but his smokes much more.
