I was changing the oil last evening and as usual, since I take the rubber intake duct off, I spun the impeller. It felt kind of weird, so I grabbed the end of the shaft and moved it back and forth. It moved a lot. So, I got out the manual and looked up how to check it and here's what I got. Now I don't have the narrow feeler gauges like the book suggests, but w/ my reg. gauges when I pushed the shaft towards the housing I got . 008" feeler gauge in and when I pushed the shaft away from the housing I got a . 017" in. This was a little tough, but I was able to finese it. These mesurements could be off by no more than . 001" The difference of . 009" is outside the range of . 0128" to . 0195" that book says is the limit. It goes into the dealer on Tues. I have had problems getting the dealer to make warranty repairs in the past on my front end. (A long story, don't ask)Any suggestions from someone out there on how to approach this, since we probably know more about this than they do? The truck has 36K on it. Thanks in advance.
