HY35 Turbo limitations??

What are the pro's/con's of the stock HY35 turbo when the other mods on an 01 auto would be Bill K. TC/VB, EZ, DD Stage 1's, RE-0880 and full 4" exhaust?

Is the "puny" 9cm turbo limiting the full power potential of these mods? If so, in what way?

Is there some risk for mechanical damage of any type by not having a larger turbo?

pro is faster spool up , major con is limited mount of boost you will attain , i have heard 32psi max by disabling wastegate , on my hx35 i have seen as much as 46psi , though the hx is out of its efficency map above 39psi . i am running around right now with 34 and i can feel the hp decrease in my seat o' the pants meter .

How can the HX35 be out of its "efficency map", if it's boosting 46 PSI?,

Maybe this will help a lil, think of how fast that HX35 has to spin to produce 46psi. Thats the advantage of an HX40 it has a bigger compressor therefore produces more air, less RPM. Thats what they mean when they say "effciency range".
 
I have had my punny HY to 39-40 psi of boost. I have read that the efficiency limit on the HY is at 32. The HY spools up fast, but does not move the volume of air a bomber needs. There is an HX-40 in my future.

Stuff to consider would be the heat generated by the compressor wheel, the potential for surge which is like cavitation, drive pressure, egt's, boost level, efficiency level, compressor ratios, and CFM's. It's a science #ad

HVAC... . I'm honored to have you responding in this post, but since you're here, could you please re-read my two questions and give a short response? I just don't understand the "turbo" thing, and if I do the mild bombs mentioned I just want to know that I will realize the full potential of whatever increased performance they should offer, and also not going to "hurt" my blessed cummins. thanks

The max I saw outta my HY35 was 44, but with BIG injectors and the JVD box. But that was runnin really high temps. Now my HX35 is pushin well over 50lbs, not sure how much b/c my Isspro is only a 50lbs guage. I know it's over it's limits. Just hope she gets me by for a little while longer till I figure out my next setup. Hope this helps. Good luck !!
