Hello Friends,

I have been toying w/ the idea of a Banks exhaust for sometime. I just couldn't handle the apx $700 price. The 2 best parts of the Banks system are the downpipe( only true 4 inch downpipe on the market) and the muffler( Banks does spend a lot of money on R & D for their products) so i came up with an alternative. I bought a slightly used Banks muffler (thanks EMD-run8) And a Banks downpipe, 2, 4 foot sections of aluminized pipe, 5 band clamps and a purty 5 inch Stainless tip all from Mike @ DPP in Pasco, Washington. My Hybrid system all total was $425. The only downside was installation time was around 1 hour longer due to time spent on proper fittment and cutting etc. All in all i am very happy with the results. The sound is nice and throaty but not loud at all and the performance is improved. It just seems to go with less effort or pedal movement. I am looking forward to inproved MPG's.

I just hope i don't wear out the passenger side window motor from rolling it down everytime i see a wall/building to my right.

Loving the sound and looking for a minor fueling box to spend my $275 on.

Oh by the way, anyone want to trade a premo Mag-Hitech 11. 5 diff cover and some cash for a Volumizer????

Best regards

Oh good, I'm not the only one. :D

Don't know that you will see much of a mileage change though, if any. I didn't see much difference with mine. It did help spool-up of the turbo and overall throttle response.

bmoeller,

Is your banks on a 3rd gen? or on a 97? Because there is a known restriction on the stock turbo exhaust elbow that the banks downpipe addresses. also the stock 3rd gen muffler is quite restrictive. This is why i expect a gain in mileage.

I am not sure it will offset the price of a window switch though:rolleyes: :D

Best regards

I purchase Rip's 4" system because I couldn't use Banks' with my exhaust brake. It didn't change my mileage appreciably but I could see the diffrence in egt's. That alone makes it worthwhile but the need to lower the right side bomb hatch in town is a really nice side benifit. :D
