diesel and natural gas?

have you used diesel seret energy do you like it or not

Didnt we have an electricity crisis a few years ago to where we impeached a governor in Calif over it?? Currently we are experiencing what they (ironically) call "rolling blackouts" due to a limited amount of electrical power being available. Im wondering how our power grid is going to keep up with 50% of commuters "plugging in".

What does it take to generate this extra power load? How will this effect our electricity bills and or the price per KW hour? Just curious.

Since most would plug in at night, or "Off Peak", it would help operators balance out the grid. Also in some states, you'd get a break on price by charging up off peak.

100% correct

Right on Target... . this is a common fallacy regarding the power requirements... . plugging in for recharging is nothing like Christmas Lights or even close to running an electric dryer... .

Don't "hybrids" charge themselves as you drive? Do you need to plug these battery systems in, or does the car charge it as it is being used? In hybrids, the electrical system are not always on, so don't they recharge when they're not being used? -Trey

Yes, mostly, but the whole point of plug-in hybrids is reducing the amount of motor fuel burned on short trips, as the vehicle would mostly run off the batteries that are charged up overnight. If the batteries get low, the engine comes on to charge them.
