Anybody out there familiar with bale beds? Most people don't even have a clue what they are around here. Anyway, I've used a hydra bed before but the cannonball bed has the dump option, and was wondering if anyone out there has one on their truck. If so do you have electric over hydralic or live power? Does electric over hyd. work ok for you? Mainly wanting an opinion on the cannonball bed but would like to hear good or bad about any of them. Thinking I might get one ordered soon, and still debating which one.

I've seen the Cannonball bed demondstrated a few times at the State fair, it seemed to work pretty smoothly. I believe it was electric over hydraulic but I didn't look that close. I see a few running around but they don't seem to be very popular down here (Deweze plant is about 30 miles away). Big G also makes a bale/dump bed combo and their built pretty heavy (also built about 30 miles away). Deweze makes a nice bale bed but I dont believe the offer a bale/dump combo.

PS: I personally don't have any of the above bale beds or work for the companies just what I have seen around.

We have four Hydra Beds on 2 Dodges and 2 Chevys and I wouldn't have anything else. I haven't had any experience with the Cannonball you were talking about but have had both the Hydra Bed and the DewEze and hands down the Hydra Bed is the better of the two IMO.

I see now though that DewEze has a wireless remote that controls the bed (cool idea) but I think that might just be asking for problems down the road. I also see that they now have an option that both the arms work in unison like the HB always has, this was one of my major gripes with the DewEze as well as not having a third valve (I think they have one now though)

As long as it is built stout enough I think that you should be OK either way you go.

I've pretty much decided on the Cannonball bed when I get one, because of the dump option. I'll use it for a lot more than hauling hay. The only concern I have now is with the electric over hydralic instead of live (underhood) power. I think the live power would be a better option but electric is a lot cheaper.
