I would like to see a proportional braking system for electric trailer brakes that has an input signal from a pressure sensor that monitors the hydraulic brake pressure. Has this been done and failed? Couldn't Ford, Dodge and GM provide such a sensor on the brake line for electric brake controller manufactures to use as an input signal to their controllers? Then could a controller be designed that would respond instantly and directly to how much pressure one puts on the brake pedal? I was told that some of the original controllers actually did tap into the brake line for sensing brake line pressure. This probably caused problems with the delicately balanced brake systems. However, if every vehicle came from the factory with a brake pressure sensor already installed, then any brake controller manufacture could monitor this signal. I would like to see this as part of the trailer tow package that Dodge puts on it's trucks. Any comments?
