hydraulic pto driven winch

Does anyone have a setup like this? A friend of mine gave me the pto and winch but no pump or lines. How much would it cost for the lines and the pump? It would be great if i could use it in a reciver hitch with some quick disconnects like on a snow plow?

PTO/hydraulic winch

Depending on what you are going to use it for it could be a great

way to go. If you are going to use it for self-recovery it has, what

I consider a large draw back. When you are using the winch the

transfer case can be in neutral and you can use the winch any

way you want. The transfer case can also be in gear in which case

the tires must be turning in order for the pump to operate and it

can be a problem if you need to use power to the tires to assist

you in getting out because you have to spin the tires faster than

the winch is is spooling in. If that is not something that you feel

you need to be concerned with then it should be a great combo.

I think you can use a powersteering pump and run a hyd. winch from that..... That is how they do snow plows.

Gus, your advice is right on but only if you are running the pto off the transfer case. About the only reason to do that is if you have an auto, then it's not even a good idea because it's possible to turn the hydraulic pump the wrong direction. With a pto installed on a manual transmission it doesn't matter which gear if any you are in, the pto will turn the same direction and speed.

I looked at this a while ago. I did a web search from google.com and got a number of hits that lead me to about 3 main manufactures. They had a number of different pumps that would have worked.
