Won't start unless I give it throttle. Why?

Looking around at whats working for people working alone, I see pressure bleeding being the favorite. If mityvac sells a pro pressure bleeder, its got to work better than vacuum. I built my own years ago using a hvac vacuum pump and saw the air leaking past the screw. Doubt much or any air got into the system, but regardless.

First problem is the master has a square lid. Pretty much screwed trying to pressurize it. Or is there a way to install a barbed fitting on both masters and cap the barb when done bleeding?

Or should I just rig up my vac pump and pull fresh fluid like I did before?

Thanks!

I still use my mityvac and it came with the correct adapter. The one they sell now does not come with the oblong adapter but they sell it in their accessory section. I assume your 97 is the same master cylinder like the 99, it is oblong taking in the two chambers.

Considering Ive got hydroboost. Should the engine be running if I have a helper to pump the brakes?

No need to run engine with the mityvac, I usually fill it with 1 1/2 to 2 bottles so I do not go dry plus it allows for a good flush. The 99 looks about the same only mine is cast iron no plastic. It is a one person job and do not need to touch the brake pedal.
