A friend of mine just replaced his hydro unit after noticing that the old unit was blowing fluid out of the bottom. At the time that he changed the hydroboost he also changed his powersteering fluid to synthetic. After installing the new hydroboost unit he is experiencing a new problem. It works fine until he turns his wheel left or right. When turning the wheel his brakes seem to be grabbing. Is it a air lock that he is experiencing? Any ideas?

Did you bleed the Power Steering system after changing the fluid?

Just do this by jacking up the front of the truck and turning the wheels from stop to stop. You will need to add fluid to the power steering unit and some might burp out on the ground.

He did bleed it the way that you explained, but it didn't cure the problem although it did help. He said that he bled it 3 times this way & added fluid each time, but no luck.
